Celebrity Blogger Week: Amber Belldene

We're excited that Amber Belldene will soon begin her third year as a Celebrity Blogger because, well, name another online Lenten devotion that can claim to have an Episcopal priest/romance writer on their team. Yeah, you can't. Because we're unique! Or at least Amber is. Read on!

The Rev. Amber Belldene

The Rev. Amber Belldene is a romance writer and the alter ego of a vampire-loving Episcopal priest. She grew up on the Florida panhandle swimming with alligators, climbing oak trees, and diving for scallops…when she could pull herself away from a book. As a child, she hid her Nancy Drew novels inside the church bulletin and read mysteries during sermons — an irony that is not lost on her when she preaches these days. Amber believes stories are the best way to examine life’s truths, and she is passionate about the relationship between sexuality and spirituality — namely, that God made people with a desire for love, and that desire is the heart of every romance novel. Her paranormal romance series Blood Vine is now available from Omnific Publishing and her sexy contemporary novella One Sinful Night in São Paulo, about an Episcopal seminarian looking for love, is scheduled to release later this year. She loves wine, history, heirloom tomatoes and she lives with her husband and children in San Francisco. For more information about her books or to check out her blog go to www.amberbelldene.com. Follow her on Twitter @AmberBelldene or Facebook.

SEC Note: In her responses, Amber is clearly foreshadowing the Saintly Kitsch round with her creative use of photos.

1. Since being named a Celebrity Blogger is obviously your greatest lifetime achievement, how will you handle the inevitableunnamed-3
post-Lenten letdown?  I find the best cure for a post-Lent letdown is a steady diet of Alleluias and Easter Candy.

2. What is the single strangest thing you’ve learned about one of your assigned saints?
The single strangest thing I've learned about one of my saints is that when Mary of Egypt went to live a solitary life in the desert, she grew fur to cover her nakedness.

3. What is your favorite saint-inspired food and why?unnamed-9
Any cocktail with St. Germain elderflower liqueur in it, because it tastes like like little heavenly blossoms are dancing on my tongue. I like it with champagne, or in a vodka Tom Collins. Also, St. Germain seems cool, although maybe too austere to have a liqueur named after him.

4. Besides Lent Madness, what do you most look forward to during the season of Lent?
Besides Lent Madness, this Lent I'm looking forward to the release of a new romance novel, Not A Mistake, on March 15. It's the first book in my Hot Under Her Collar series about young clergy women. It even has a Lenten theme and a purple ribbon on the cover.

Here's the blurb:

Sometimes a scandal isn't a sin...
On the night she graduates from seminary, Jordan Sykes finds herself in bed with Dominic Lawrence, the ethics professor she’s crushed unnamed-10on for years. Two months later, she discovers she’s pregnant and is determined to hide it to protect his career. Maybe, if she loves her new church like hell, they won’t fire her for being a single mother.

Dominic knows the difference between right and wrong, and he’s filled with remorse after sleeping with his favorite student. He’s offered the job of his dreams, but he'd be a hypocrite to accept without making things right with Jordan first.

Dominic proposes marriage to save their careers, never expecting they will prove a perfect—and passionate—match. But can Jordan give her heart to a man who still believes the first night they spent together was a mistake?

SEC Note: As if we didn't have enough pictures to jam in here, enjoy this last one of Amber eating a donut cheeseburger.
