Monday Madness -- March 13, 2017

Today's episode of Monday Madness features the Supreme Executive Committee answering viewer mail, questions asked by you, the Lent Madness global viewing public. Tim and Scott also give some advice on what to do when your saint isn't winning (without getting yourself banished into the outer darkness). And, of course, Tim shows off his Dietrich Bonhoeffer 2016 Golden Halo winning mug. Would it be a Monday Madness without product placement?

Scott also mentions yesterday's post about some outstanding (free!) resources from Forward Movement. If you'd like to introduce the saints to your church or family, there are some excellent free materials available. There's also a book, Meet the Saints: Family Storybook, which parents or young readers will enjoy. It would make a great gift for any parent, and it's on sale now for just ten bucks. Check out the post for all the details.

As always, feel free to head over to LentMadnessTV to watch the entire oeuvre of Monday Madness. And tell your friends to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter so they can keep up with the madness.

  1. The big names contest is coming next Monday. Did you all just go through the list of saints and pick the longest? Some of us are responsible for updating the church's bracket and I am not the worlds greatest speller. That contest may get reduce to J.S. vs N. von Z. on our wall.

  2. I was sharing Lent Madness this morning with the Presbyterian Pastor I work for after he noticed the large bracket and match up calendar on my office wall.) He mentioned something about a sportsball bracket! Have you guys looked into copyright infringement on this?

  3. Have the SEC ever concerned a bracket reveal along the lines of the CBS program last night that revealed the NCAA Men's BB bracket? You could do a webcast and reveal the bracket and SEC members could explain why those saints "on the bubble" didn't make it and who the top seeds are and why. 🙂

  4. I believe it WAS Julian Assange who wrote, "All shall be hacked, and all shall be hacked, and all manner of thing shall be hacked..."

  5. What I want to know is are Tim and Scott fraternal twins separated at birth? They're definitely fraternal but I there's also more than a passing resemblance don't you think? I have a hard time telling their photos apart. Then again, I can't tell the voices of Click and Clack apart either.

  6. Gentlemen, imagine my surprise when last week in the middle of a very busy workday, I received a text from my high school age son which read, "I swear it wasn't me." To which I responded, as any mother would, "I know. Doesn't seem like something you'd do" Of course I didn't know what he was talking about. It wasn't until supertime that I realized that someone in his school was caught "stuffing the ballot box" for St Cecilia! Shame! If the SEC calls for a special prosecutor, which I think it should, my thought would be to start with the music department since Cecilia is their matron saint. And singers, in particular, can be very competitive, especially sopranos. Or this could be an example of the deep church undermining SEC for the sake retribution; an agent provocateur! Or like you suggest in today's announcement, it could be hackers. Here in the land of ballot box 13 we are sensitive to this topic. In all seriousness, I talked to my son in detail and feel confident that he wasnt involved.
But the truth is out there.

  7. Thanks for many, many chuckles all of you first-responders! I really need some laughs after today's news....

  8. Ah! I have that box of Jesus 'bandaids,' Tim. Do you also have "Buddy Christ" from Dogma?
