FREE Bonus: Two More Pocket Lent Cards

Luke cardWe know you love Lent Madness, and we hope you know the Supreme Executive Committee loves you. In fact, the Tim and Scott love you so much that -- even though it's Holy Week and they're quite busy -- they're giving you two extra bonus FREE Pocket Lent cards.

Luke card backNow, you might be asking, "What's a Pocket Lent card?" If that was you asking that question, we know you aren't one of the over 10,000 lucky owners of the 2016 Saintly Scorecard, the essential printed guide to Lent Madness. For those who own the book (now worth a fortune on eBay, since it sold out), you'll know that Pocket Lent cards are saintly trading cards much like baseball cards only better, holier, funnier, and collectable-ier. The Saintly Scorecard came with six cards featuring the likes of George Herbert, Brigid of Kildare, Mary Magdalene, and more.

See below for your two bonus cards. Just print them out on a color printer and you'll be all set. Or use a black & white printer and then go crazy with tiny coloring markers. Laminate your new cards for extra credit. If you stick something fragrant on the cards for a while, you can even pretend your printout is scratch-n-sniff!

Anyway, you can enjoy Luke the Evangelist or Harriett Bedell cards right now. For free! Download your Luke card or Bedell card card immediately for instant gratification.

As you enjoy your two new cards and the six existing cards in your Saintly Scorecard, you can think about which Lent Madness saints you'd like to see made into Pocket Lent cards in the future. Let us know in the comments. You can also give thanks for Rachel Jones, Michael Phillips, and Richelle Thompson, the Forward Movement staff whose creative fruits you're seeing here.

Hopefully this will help you through the last few hours of Lent Madness Withdrawal on this, the last weekend of Lent Madness 2016.

  1. I *SO* needed this!!! The LMW has been particularly hard this weekend, me with twitchy eyeballs and that odd hitch in my breath whenever I walked past a stained glass window... Thank you for this brief respite from the next twelve hours of saintly darkness! ...scratch and sniff... Spikenard for this week, I think... All glory (hic), laud and (hic) hooooooonooorrr...

  2. You all must be bordering on total exhaustion--
mental as well as physical--as you face the saintly
Marathon otherwise known as Holy Week. I'll
meet you at Gethsemane just prior to the
earthquake and the solar eclipse;together we can
mourn the death of the Son of Man.

  3. This reminds me: I didn't see a Frances Perkins trading card in the Saintly Scorecard. Is there some divine plan behind this omission? Do I get a prize?

  4. How can one get the original 6 cards, if the Saintly Scorecard was sold out by the time I realized how important the cards were.,

  5. I couldn't stand it. I had to check Ebay. Surprise not a Lent Madness items to be found. What's up with that? Those trading cards gotta be worth something....especially in mint condition!

  6. Lord, what fools these Madfolk be! It makes me want to say the A-word several days too soon. If he who sings prays twice, she who laughs prays three times, and one of those prayers is, "Thank you, God, for Lent Madness."

    1. I am quite taken with your expansion on singing is praying twice to laughing is praying three times. Both are healthy enterprises and, I think, delight our Lord just as our praying does.

      1. Theologian Reinhold Niebuhr said “Humor is a prelude to faith and laughter is the beginning of prayer.” I ran across this quote thanks to "Brother, Give Us a Word" from the Society of St. John the Evangelist, and I have found it to be true (especially during the Saintly Kitsch Round).

      2. Patsy, it's also been said (by Anne Lamott) that laughter is carbonated holiness!

  7. Wow! Thanks, SEC and henchpersons. I'll find some card stock and get to work on these.
    Looking forward to tomorrow's match.

  8. Excellent! How about Lydia with her snails of course, and Thecla with her seals f they are properly ravening?

  9. I'd like to see John Donne. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior while studying his works when I was sixteen years old.

  10. Why haven't I seen a Frances Perkins card? She won the Golden Halo. As the Secretary of Labor, she is a natural patron saint for Human Resources managers like me!

  11. I completely forgot I have the 6 cards. I just looked and Am pleased to know George Herbert does not have bats in the belfry These are the equivalent of mint in box only in book!

  12. I asked about Frances, a HALO winner, weeks ago... where is her card??????? Tears of noninclusion fall to my desktop. I was told to wait for this day and yet.............. Not to have all the Golden Halo winners is so depressing.

  13. May I assume there will be more cards in next year's Saintly Scorecard? If so, please include France's Perkins!

  14. Have mine printed and laminated! I love the "You put the lime in the coconut, and mix it all up." Something to look forward to on Easter Monday!

  15. I would also like to have a Frances Perkins card! She was one of the Saints we featured in our evening Lent program this year.

  16. Please could we have a "Constance Would Go" Pocket Lent card, even though she made it only to the Final Four? I would really appreciate carrying that in my wallet for encouragement!
