"Monday" Madness -- A Blast from the Past

February 4, 2026
Scott Gunn

Fr. Tim Schenck and Fr. Scott Gunn are back! For one video. Some will rejoice, most will roll their eyes. Tim and Scott are here to wish the new Supreme Executive Committee -- Fr. Michael Sahdev and Fr. Christian Anderson -- well as they lead the Lent Madness Global Viewing Public through the triumphs and tribulations of Lent Madness 2026.

Wondering about Saintly Scorecards? Scott and Tim are here to tell you how you can be your own scorecard. Wondering about bracket posters? Tim and Scott are here to tell you how to buy one right now! Seriously, if you want a bracket poster, order right away! The deadline for Lent Madness orders to arrive on time is coming soon.

As you listen to the video, you might ponder the strangely reverberant voice of Tim. Could it be that Scott forgot to change a key setting when the video was recorded? Nah! The echo is simply because Tim's garden is wonderfully resonant. That echo is a feature, not a bug!

Anyway, get ready for Lent Madness 2026. Follow along here or on Instagram.

  1. Thanks Scott and Tim. Great to see you. Maybe you could come back during Lent Madness and add your own humor to the new guys (who are also great).

  2. So sorry the biographies are not published in booklet form this year. Having them available before enabled us to complete our brackets before Ash Wednesday — with little extra research — and thus allowed for a friendly competition among parishioners.

  3. I miss you two very much but look forward to what Fr. Michael and Fr. Christian have cooked up for this year. My one request is: PLEASE work Shiloh Roby's theme music into the videos. That theme signals, to me, that "it's time for Lent Madness." I love it.

  4. Without the Saintly Scorecard, I’m not sure I will play Lent Madness this year. It’s hard enough to read the Saintly Scorecard to set up my bracket, I don’t think I have the time to look it up myself. I try very hard to stay out of social media so I won’t be playing it on any of those platforms. I hope the emails that come contain everything that the social media support. Also, the new SEC plays favorites and handicaps. That’s a problem. I’m just letting you know what are issues for me as I’ve been playing Lent Madness since it commenced. I miss you guys and your wry sense of humor.

  5. Why are you saying, "the new Supreme Executive Committee -- Fr. Michael Sahdev and Fr. Christian Anderson"? They were the team from last year. Were they not the SEC? Not sure I'm happy to see them back. It's a generational thing and maybe a dude vs woman vibe. But I do not go for the SPORTS vibe version of Lent Madness. All the graphics and sounds. Thinking I will give up Monday Madness for Lent.

  6. Lovely to see you both…I miss you guys! Opened this in my phone and could only see the neckline of Scott’s sweater, and I thought for a moment that he was channeling the Notorious RBG! (Too bad she’s not eligible)
    Happy Lent!

  7. It was wonderful hearing and seeing Tim and Scott in the video.
Thanks for that great opening. I look forward to Lent Madness and some Saints I haven't read about yet.

  8. I'm looking forward to watching the hits on Wikipedia for saints to skyrocket ("ascend heavenward?") Our confirmation class of teenagers is rooting for (no surprise) the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus!

  9. I'm looking forward to Lent Madness as always, but I agree with the comments above that miss the Saintly Scorecard this year. Our parish always bought them ( or directed folks to purchase the online versions) so parishioners could fill out brackets ahead of time in a fundraiser we run for church programs. The Scorecard's absence makes that more difficult this year--it's not realistic to ask all of our parishioners to "do their own research" in order to participate. I hope it will be back in some form next year

  10. When will the 8x11 bracket page be available for printing. I am so looking forward to rhe count down this year ad I am every year!

  11. How or where can you download the Lent Madness app? I’ve looked on Forward Movement website and Apple Store but haven’t found it yet. Thanks!
