Lent Madness 2016 Swagapalooza!

Bonhoeffer mugWith the close of Lent Madness 2016, it has become a tradition to award the Golden Halo winner with a mug bearing his or her likeness. This year is no exception and we're pleased to make available the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Golden Halo mug.

Whether you exclusively drink single-origin black coffee like Tim and Scott or defile it with additives (or even use it for tea!), this mug works for the hot beverage of your choice.

But that's not all! We are also offering a Dietrich Bonhoeffer Golden Halo pint glass. Bonhoeffer's German heritage unnamed-10demands it -- whether you fill it with an IPA, German root beer, or any other beverage is up to you.

But fear not Julian of Norwich fans! After much deliberation, the Supreme Executive Committee has decided to award Dame Julian the 2016 Silver Halo for her second place finish. All may not have turned out well in the championship round, but we have heard the plaintive cries (meows?) of her ardent supporters.

2016-Julian-of-Norwich-MugThus we are offering an official Julian of Norwich Silver Halo soup bowl. This image is merely a placeholder to show you the shape of the bowl. While you can preorder it now, the above link will include the actual artwork on Easter Monday.

Let a bowl of hearty hazelnut soup warm your soul as you reflect upon Julian's words of wisdom. Or fill it with milk and allow your cat to lap it up. Either way, we hope you will enjoy this unique saintly product to honor Julian.

We hope these fun saintly mementoes of Lent Madness 2016 will assist you in your long-term Lent Madness Withdrawal. Now back to your regularly scheduled Holy Week programming.

  1. Love the beer glass! Makes me wish I'd ordered St. Brigit's last year; it could be the start of a set.

    1. St. Brigid's pint glass is still available, Barbara. It's not too late!

Great job, y'all! Way to keep the masses happy!

  2. The speed with which the SEC can make these available is absolutely miraculous. Scott and Tim, can you turn water into wine or feed 5,000 with a couple of fish? You guys are great, thanks for another fantastic Lent Madness!

    1. ...and I quote: "I voted for Julian because she wrote a lot of poetry and she is beautiful." 🙂

  3. Hurray for Julian and the silver halo! A most appropriate decision! Now, indeed, "all manner of thing will be well"!
Thank you again, SEC. It has been great spending Lent with all of you fine people.

  4. I can see a new cup and soup bowl will be in my cabinet soon.

Thanks for the silver halo for Julian, Scott and Tim! All was well before but this makes it WELL-er!

  5. I'm thinking the Soup Bowl will be nice for my morning coffee. Which means I will need to order two so my cat, Mollie, can have an appropriate saintly water dish (Mollie doesn't do Dairy these days). Love this addition to the Lentorium, and congratulations on a stunning season of Lent Madness!

  6. Best Lent Madness to date! Two greats in the final round. I'll be pleased to slurp my soup and sip my coffee from these fine offerings!

  7. I say that is very sporting of you all. Delighted with a silver halo for Dame Julian. Will await Easter Monday to order the fun stuff.

  8. I don't mean to be ungrateful, but I was REALLY hoping for a Silver Halo Julian pint glass to go with my Silver Halo Brigid of Kildare glass....

  9. This has been very enjoyable, learning about the various Saints and choosing between two of them each day this Lenten season. I'll look forward to doing this again next year, God willing. Judy H.

  10. I must get the soup mug for a friend named Julian. I'll drink to and from Dietrich.

  11. Judy H. Thank you for the "God Willing" comment about next year. That was a constant reminder, sometimes with a bit of an edge, from my Irish relatives to acknowledge our small place in the great scope of creation. Julian would have liked it also. Smiles in the Spring light to all.

  12. How many yrs before we might see some of this season's participants in a bracket again? I know there are rules.

  13. Oh, I'm so excited about the Silver Halo soup bowl! I really wanted Julian to win so I could get a mug with her image on it and was bummed by her second place finish but now I'm in top spirits again! Thanks, SEC!

  14. So sorry Julian didn't win. She's a favourite of mine, although I did also vote for Dietrich along the way! I guess I'll order the Julian soup bowl to cry into.

  15. Is there a bumper sticker "Constance would go -- would you?" (or similar) in the works?

I am so ready to get that.

    Cheers oh great SEC.

  16. if you add dinner plates and salad plates I could get a whole set of unneeded china! let's all think about the childrens' tv star/Presbyterian minister for next year. this LM went by too fast. can you 2 come up with another fun contest IN YOUR SPARE TIME!!!!! thanks for a great time!

  17. It may be sacrilegious to ask...but if anyone has a 2012 mug they would be willing to sell, I'd love to buy one for my daughter Magdalyn's birthday a week after Easter (even belatedly, it would be a treasure).

    1. Our priest, at St Georges Episcopal, Glenn Dale, MD, is Constance (Connie). Our whole congregation would buy one of these bumper stickers. We are so truly blessed to have a friend and leader who truly embodies the phrase "Constance would go"! Thank you Rev. Connie Reinhardt for your guidance and love.

  18. Thank you, SEC, for awarding Julian the Silver Halo! It is comfort indeed to all her devotees and to all cats.

  19. What fabulous swag! I might need a mug and soup bowl both. Heretic that I am, I shall be having tea in my mug.
